EXCITING RARE 13 PIECE UNITED STATES SKI OLYMPIC TEAM ETCHED GLASSWARE - STOWE, VERMONT ESTATE - CIRCA 1960’S
$1,495.00 USD Fresh from a Stowe, Vermont estate, this exciting, rare, one of a kind 13 piece set U. S. Ski Team etched glassware from the 1960's period.
According to the estate, this set was specially made by a U. S. glass factory to raise funds for the U. S. Olympic Ski Team, which was formed in 1965. A member of this family was closely associated with the team when they were purchased.
All the pieces are copper wheel etched with a U. S. Ski Team skier with the U. S. Ski Team logo on each piece. One plate and the two fabulous paperweights just have the U S logo, the rest having the U S T logo. We are also told that these pieces were not mass produced, probably why we cannot find anything like these pieces, even on the Internet, after spending hours on trying to research them. If anyone has any more information, it would be fun.
The set includes the 10 7/8 inch by 4 inches in diameter tall vase, the 8 ½ inch tall decanter, the absolutely gorgeous pair of 6 ½ inch long, 3 7/8" tall by 3 ¼ inches wide paperweights (We thought these were book ends to begin with, however the backs are sloped.), the 5 inch tall by 5 ¾ inches diameter ice bucket with tongs, the 7 ½ inch with 4 inch top diameter footed vase, five 8" diameter plates, the large 11 ¾ inch square serving tray and the 5 ½ tall pitcher.
This set would make a wonderful display for a back bar, a ski museum, a ski lodge or displayed with other ski memorabilia.
A beautiful set which is in fine condition, having no chips, cracks or repairs, with minor wear, mainly on the plate bottoms from use and the large serving platter has one minor chip on the bottom lower right hand corner, as the photos show.

SCRUMPTIOUS JOHN LOTTON AQUA MAINE BLUE TALL VASE - PINK BLOOMS WITH GOLD DRAPED RIBBONS OR VINES - CIRCA 1991
SOLD Highly sought after John Lotton gorgeous 9 ¼" tall aqua marine blue vase, signed John Lotton 1991, the entire vase being draped with gold ribbons or vines around beautiful pink blooms. We find this vase to be the most pleasing example of his works. The design of which is unusual with hand chip carving around the entire top edge. This is a heavy vase which has a molten and mottled look to the glass, with high stretched iridescence throughout the upper flora form top and an unusual chipped ice affect over the top. This chipped affect being very different from most of the pieces that we have seen that John Lotton created. It certainly has the look and is of the high quality of Tiffany. Being offered at a low opening, this is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a gorgeous piece of art for investment and visual pleasure. The vase is in its original pristine condition, having no hairlines or repairs. We could not resist mentioning some of the history of this talented family with their works being purchased as fast as it became available and finding permanent homes in major museums and other collections of distinction. The father, Charles Gerald Lotton, born in Elizabethtown, Illinois on October 21, 1935, a self taught artist. His four children, glass artists in their own right, worked with their father, John’s works being highly desired. "Lotton Art Glass Makes Price Move as Predicted by Daryle Lambert The sale of a John Lotton 1995 vase for more than twice its estimated selling price might indicate this art glass is beginning to take flight as suggested by Daryle S. Lambert, who made the prediction Lotton Glass will one day be the next Tiffany." "Daryle S. Lambert FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PR Log (Press Release) – Jan 22, 2008 – Chicago, Illinois --In his book "31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques & Collectibles", released in May, 2007, author, Daryle S. Lambert made the prediction that Lotton Art Glass would rise in the market to become the next Tiffany. In June, 2007, he made this same statement in the press. Yesterday’s sale of a common 1995 John Lotton twelve inch vase through Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in Chicago for more than twice its estimated selling price, might just be the indication that this art glass is just beginning to take its place among the notable art glass of the ages. "When common pieces of anything begin to reach levels in their pricing that better pieces brought only a short time ago, then watch out when you see exceptional pieces come to market," Lambert states. "While Lotton’s first sale was made in 1971 to C.D. Peacock, a leading jewelry store in Chicago, his career charged full speed ahead in 1972 when he was introduced to Lillian Nassau, a noted New York Tiffany dealer who, at first, gave Lotton a small order for paperweights she intended to give as gifts to friends. She soon placed a very large order with Lotton, and later that same year, Paul Nassau, Lillian’s son, contracted Lotton and became the exclusive distributor of Lotton Art Glass for the next five years. The demand for Lotton’s art glass continues to grow internationally, and collectors can be assured that their pieces will continue to grow in value. Source: Lotton Art Glass by D. Thomas O’Connor and Charles Lotton."
